Description

Flooding in Griffin, IN information from the July 3, 1957 issue of The Evansville Courier reported that the river was expected to crest, far above the 21 ft. level which already would have flooded fields of corn and soybeans. It was hoped that since the crest was not to take place until the following Saturday, there would be time for an all out effort to raise the levees would be successful, but since such a long stretch of the levee needed to be raised, it was thought problematical.
