Republic Aviation P-47 Thunderbolt planes, one aloft, and the other on the ground with the pilot ready to climb into the cockpit. Built on U.S. Hwy 41 North in 1942, Republic Aviation manufactured almost half of all P-47 Thunderbolts for WWII. It was only in existence until 1945 (in Evansville).
