Description

Washington House hotel at 228-230 Main St., at the corner with 3rd St. Opened in 1855, this building still stands and has served many purposes since its hotel days. It currently has a mansard roof, added circa 1878. Long time Evansvillians know this as the location of the Farmer's Daughter restaurant, it is once again a restaurant. Its basement was purportedly used as a station on the Underground Railroad.
