Description
The Vulcan Plow Co.'s at 101 1st St., formerly 101-27 Lower 1st St. This postcard contains a hand-written note: Wish you good luck with Vulcan line in future. Am sorry that I will be unable to get up to see you again. H. B. Kinchel. (His obituary says Henry B. Kinchel was the credit manager for Vulcan Plow for many years.) The City Foundry was formed by William Heilman and his brother in-law, Christian Katz, in 1847, with the name changed to Vulcan Plow Works after the death of Heilman in 1890. This building was razed in 1957 with only a small portion in the rear remaining. The statue of Vulcan seen atop the front corner is now housed at the Evansville Museum.
