Pastor and congregation of Alexander Chapel AME [African Methodist Episcopal] Church at 204 SE 5th St., formerly 504 Upper 5th St. The building, copleted in 1889, was razed during urban renewal in the 1960s. A probable identification of the pastor, based on the portion of the sign that can be read, is Simon Perkins, Sr. (1895-1974). He was a WWI veteran.
