Description

These men are gathered on the Ohio River front to break ground for the construction of Dress Plaza. It was named for William H. Dress, mayor of Evansville 1935-1943, 1948-1949. The man with the shovel is Mayor Dress. This area, which had only been open some 6 months at the time of the 1937 flood, was under water and damaged, but it was rebuilt and remains today.
