Description

Walker Hospital, 712 S. 4th St. It began as the Evansville Sanitarium in 1894, and was expanded and renamed Walker Hospital in 1914. It was renamed again in the 1920s or 1930s as Walker Welborn Hospital. In 1943 it was purchased by a Baptist church and renamed Welborn Baptist Hospital. Now closed, the building still stands (although it looks nothing like this now) at 412 SE 4th St. (same location) This is a William E. Deeds photograph.
