Description

Young African Americans building birdhouses at the manual training school associated with Clark Street School at 215 Clark St. Clark was built in 1869, with a new building 20 years later. In 1919 it was renamed Frederick Douglass High School. In 1928 a new building was built at 635 Lincoln Ave. and renamed Lincoln School. Lincoln still still stands, but Clark was razed circa 1937.
