Freshman Latin class at Trinity Parish School. Holy Trinity School, aka Old Catholic High School, was at 20 Upper 3rd St. It was built in 1869 after two earlier (1853 and 1863) one-room schools became overcrowded. The church itself dates to 1849-1851. An annotation on the photograph says classes were taught by Brothers of the Holy Cross, although no verification of this could be found.
