Description
German banners on the Dubois County Courthouse. Jasper is a town of approximately 15,000 (2014 figures) that has a very strong German Catholic heritage. German ancestry is reported by 49.2% of the population, and 52.5% report that they are Catholics. Since 1979 this heritage has been celebrated in a 4 day festival in August called Strassenfest. Strassenfest means street party. These flags are probably part of the Strassenfest as ordinarily the courthouse is not so festooned.
