Description

Storage bins or silos in Union Township Dogtown area. Union Township is the southwestern most township in Vanderburgh County and is very sparsely populated because it lies within the Ohio River floodplain. A map of the townships shows this one looking like a balloon hanging into the Ohio River. Dogtown comes from the name of a popular tavern (began sometime after 1915) located here, housed in what was an 1889 Cypress Post Office and Saloon. The tavern is no longer in business.
