Description
L and N Henderson Bridge in Union Township, the southwestern most part of the county. Much of this road closely follows the Ohio River. According to the Historic Evansville website, this was the first bridge in the area spanning the Ohio River. Construction began in 1881 and the bridge opened July 13, 1885. The Union Township ferry was relocated downstream. One of the original piers was near the Henderson bank. The bridge was rebuilt in 1932, although steel and concrete trusses were added after the 1937 flood.
