Description
Said to be a shop in the old courthouse--cannot be verified, although gift type shops there did exist at one time. This one is called Quail Hollow. The Vanderburgh County Courthouse at 201 NW 4th St. was completed in 1890. The building still stands, but is now referred to as the old courthouse, as government offices moved into another building in 1969. (It would not have served as a courthouse at the time of this photograph.) The courthouse spans the block between NW 4th St. and NW 5th St., bounded by Vine St. and Court St. The courthouse sits on ground that was once the turnaround for the Wabash and Erie Canal.
