Postcard entitled ""Post Office and 2nd Street, Evansville, Ind."" The post office is the building on the right at 200 NW 2nd St., now called the old post office. It was built 1873-1879. Abandoned by the federal government in 1969, it was acquired by the city in 1977 and currently holds a catering/event venue. The building beyond the post office, with the Acme Cigar Stand sign, is the Acme Hotel at the corner of Sycamore St. and 2nd St. Built in 1866, it became the Acme Hotel in 1893 and was razed in 1956. None of the other buildings still exist.
