Description
Aerial view of the Vanderburgh Convention Center/Auditorium at 715 Locust St. . This facility underwent major remodeling in the mid 1990s and was renamed the Centre. Today it is named Old National Events Plaza. In the upper left corner is the Executive Inn at 600 Walnut St. A project of local self-made millionaire Bob Green, the Executive Inn was the hot spot in the 1970s, booking lots of conventions and featuring big name entertainment like Fats Domino, Little Richard, Bob Hope, Elvis Presley, Red Skelton, and Barbara Mandrell. After Green's 1991 death, the hotel went through a number of owners, but was eventually razed in 2011 to make way for a new arena. What is seen today bears no resemblance to what is seen in this photograph.
