Description

Correspondence from Pvt. Leo Volz to Ann Ruxer. He's received a letter from her, the first in a long time, and he's said he wouldn't write her until he heard from her, so she should forget that. He almost feels like no one remembers him. He's sending her some pictures and asks her to enlarge those she wants to keep and to give some to Laura (his sister) to give to their mother. They are going through a big job now just waiting for the damn Jap to come; he guesses she's heard they're trying to take Midway and that is't too far away, but if they try to take Hawaii they'll get a surprise because the Army is really ready for them. He says she told him that Martin (his brother) joined up on May 22 and does she know where he is. He wants to tell Martin how things are in the Army in Hawaii. He asks if Raymond Ernst (possibly Raymond Joseph Ernst 1920-1993 https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/143394353/raymond-joseph-ernst) ever made it into the Army. This letter was S.W.A.K. XOXO. NOTE: these correspondents will marry, and were married 53 years at his death in 2000.
