Description

Correspondence from Pvt. Leo Volz to Ann Ruxer. He's just come in from the drill field where they really work the hell right out of us. He thinks this will soon be over and he'll go on to being a truck driver. He's glad he didn't get sent to Australia. He talks about the boat ride over there and how much he liked it. His company had to stand guard duty, and he talks about how beautiful it was to be on deck at night, with nothing but the moon and the stars. After you land you feel safe again. He notes that she is now out of school and is probably enjoying herself; he doesn't blame her a bit, as he would do the same. He asks if Martin (his brother) ever went to the Army. The last he heard Martin was in Iowa, and he hopes Martin doesn't have to come across because it's really hell. This letter was S.W.A.K. NOTE: these correspondents will marry, and were married 53 years at his death in 2000.
