Description

Correspondence from Pvt. Leo Volz to Ann Ruxer. The letterhead on this letter is from the Air Corps Technical School at Keesler Field. Volz is furious because he was all set to go into town and when he went to get his pass, it was denied because he didn't have his bed made properly tht morning. He won't be able to get his pictures made now, but will try to get some done soon. He's getting used to the Army but will never like it. Some 200 boys were recently sent to Illinois, and he wishes that he was, too, but maybe he will be soon and then he'll be able to see her every other week. He's been told that things look bad for them (meaning in combat) and that you just have to keep on walking if the soldiers on either side of you fall. He says he would find a hole but was told that won't work and that he just has to be lucky. He says that he is lucky, and asks for the address of Oliver Ruxer (relationship to Ann unknown) so he can find him a he's supposed to be down here. He just got a two dollar bill and is sending it to her for safekeepping. NOTE: these correspondents will marry, and were married 53 years at his death in 2000.
