Description

Rose Hill Cemetery on Stringtown Rd. This is a small Jewish cemetery that dates to circa 1879. Seen here (closest to camera) is the grave of Silas Ichenhauser (1863-1936) and his first wife, Emma Lowenstein Ichenhauser. He was the president of a large glass importer and director of the Cleveland Orphanage. To the left is the grave of Helen Brown Oberdorfer (1885-1982). Next is (possibly her spouse), Sidney Z. Oberdorfer (1884-1956). The 2 graves left of Sidney are his parents, Bertha (1861?-1910) and Morris (1846-1920). Bertha Oberdorfer and Silas Ichenhauser were siblings. Rear left, with the statute atop, is the Mannheimer monument, with the graves of Carrie (1854-1919), her husband, Raphael (1847-1919), and their sons Milton (18831884) and Harry M. (18861951). Raphael was president of Evansville Packing Co. Finally, the Weil monument represents Benjamin (1848-1946) and probably his wives, Julia Eichel Weil (18441896 ) and Bertha Gumberts Weil (18631901). Benjamin was a meat packer and was at one time in business with Ralphael Mannheimer.
