Description

Central High School at 5400 First Ave., dating to 1970/1971. Evansville High School was the city's oldest, holding classes prior to 1868 but acquiring a permanent location at 203 NW 6th St. at that time. In 1918 another school was built on the west side of town and Evansville High School was renamed Central. With additions/remodels, it was at the 6th St. location until the facility pictured here was built. The original Central was razed in 1973.
