Description
Vanderburgh County Courthouse Blue Room remodeling, contemporary pictures show a room looking like this, but painted green. It is a ball room. Whether or not there are 2 such rooms is unclear. The old Vanderburgh County Courthouse, a Beaux Arts structure was designed by Henry Wolters of Louisville, KY. Construction began in 1888 and was completed by 1890, with offices moving in early in 1891. It occupies the block bounded by 4th, Vine, 5th, and Court streets, an area that was once a turnaround basin for the Wabash and Erie Canal. The building still stands, although it has not served as a Courthouse since 1969.
