Description

Correspondence from Owen Hamilton to his sister June Meyer (June E. Hooe Hamilton Meyer, 1919-2010 (https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/81471045/june-e_hooe-meyer). He's been sleeping so much at school that he cannot sleep at home. It's been a joke how things are going on there. The instructor decided he liked the night shift, probably because he could sleep 24 hours per day. No sooner did he come to class than he fell asleep. He would sleep and the class would yell and throw paper wads. It was remarkable how he could wake up just before smoke periods and lunch time. They weren't learning anything so some of the fellows complained and this guy got fired, and they have a new instructor who knows his stuff so they're working hard. He's heard from their mother who seems to be doing pretty well. He asks if his sister sees her often. He remembers that she used to count on her daughter calling her every morning and when she did not, then she worried that something was wrong. He says they all need to do all they can to make her happy since she's had an awfully hard time. He will be home for Thanksgiving unless something unforeseen comes up. He's not been homesick yet because what good would it do if he couldn't do anything about it. Lexington is a nice place that doesn't give you much time to think of home. He attended church last Sunday and thinks it would be a good idea to go every Sunday.
