Description
Correspondence from Owen Hamilton to his sister June Meyer (June E. Hooe Hamilton Meyer, 1919-2010 (https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/81471045/june-e_hooe-meyer). Time flies between letters and he wishes it would move that fast when he starts home. This morning was the most difficult of all his time in the army as he had to say goodbye to all the fellows he'd been with for the past 2.5 years, while staying back himself. Imagine how hard it would be to see all your friends go and you remain behind. The points are only 4 from him and so he doesn't see how he can remain past the middle of January, but you never know in the army. Just to show how many men left, he's now 1st Sergeant of the HQ battery. He doesn't have the stripes for it, but if he stays 15 more days he should get them. Wouldn't that be something, coming home a 1st Sergeant. They are so short of men he's hard pressed to find enough to put on details. After being in the army for so long, it's nice to be able to tell somebody else what to do. He has to figure out who to put on KP. He probably will be too busy to write, but look for him in February.
