TY - GEN N2 - Correspondence from Owen Hamilton to his mother (Edith Letha Hooe Hamilton 1882-1976 https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/29674920/edith-letha-hamilton). He says he couldn't think of anything to say on the phone, so will now drop her a line. He thinks he may like it (in the Army, presumably) but hasn't had enough time to decide. They got up at 5:00 am and made their beds and got down to chow. Most of the morning was spent lining up to get to an examining board and then had to wait several hours. There are some 50 in his bunch and you have to wait for them all. They had a blood test and lung X-ray. After that was a couple of hours of a physical. He was worried about his blood pressure but it was fine. After all this you feel like you have to be a physical wonder! That afternoon they had to get to and scrub ""the damn barracks"" and it was cold and all he had to wear were his good clothes. They are told that they no longer need good clothes so you have to work in them. He tells her he will go to church in the morning with some of the fellows. She is not to write him here as he will soon be gone, and will call or telegraph when he gets shipped out.
