Description

Correspondence from Owen Hamilton to his mother (Edith Letha Hooe Hamilton 1882-1976 https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/29674920/edith-letha-hamilton) He's glad she got hold of some film--it's hard to get over there. He's got some papers he's sending home for the scrapbook, as well as a photo of the model airplane he made. He went into town and enjoyed a football game, and took tons of pictures of Waikiki which he hopes turn out well. Last Saturday he went to a football game at Hickam Field and that is a nice place. He's lucky to be on this island---he'd not find nearly so much to do at any camp in the states. His watch has gone out and so he's sending it home--it's too good of a watch to be used the way it is in the army. He will buy a $20 waterproof one--probably at the PX since that's cheaper than in town. He's sorry that John Crawford is in the infantry as those are the boys who go through hell. He hopes he won't have to be sent overseas where he would see a lot of action. He was looking at maps and planning the way he'd like to come home. That will be the day! He wishes he had gone to England, that way he would have gone around the world. But he'll be glad just to come home.
