He's sending her a few pictures--he's taken quite a few but it take a long time to get them back. He thinks he'll be able to meet Paul (no further identification) this month; he's on Maui with the 4th Marine Division and is flying to Honolulu where they can meet. Bob Hope was on the island and he saw him twice. Francis Langford, Jerry Colonna, and Tony Romero were with him. It was quite a show--Hope cracks jokes so fast he has you in the aisle all the time. He's been fortunate to see many big stars and acts there. He comments on the photos of the place where he's living and says he's clearly not in the high rent district. He told someone he has electricity and running--every morning he runs after a bucket. The weather there is ideal. It's never as hot as it is at home. He has to use a blanket at night, and it's just a bit too cool to swim in the evenings, but by the morning everything is fine. It's hard to imagine a climate this temperate all the time, and although the Chamber of Commerce has done a good job selling it to the public, he'd rather be home. He's giving swimming lessons right now and have quite a few hours worth. He's now qualified to teach the Red Cross courses in the islands. He even took combat swimming--with full uniform, pack, helmet, and shoes. He had to jump 25 ft. with all his equipment.
