Description
Correspondence from Owen Hamilton to his sister June Meyer (June E. Hooe Hamilton Meyer, 1919-2010 (https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/81471045/june-e_hooe-meyer). His morale is 100% better because he met a good looking WAVE (Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service). He was minding his own business on the beach when 150 WAVEs pulled up; with that many, it would be a poor man who couldn't get one. She looks like Dorothy Burchfield and has a swell personality; she is from Chicago and is new to the islands. Being an old timer on the island, he was happy to offer his services. He has a date with her next week so the situation is well in hand. Maybe it's a good thing he didn't get into O.C.S. because it was so hard to leave home the last time. He's sorry he couldn't get higher in the army, but the army was never going to be his career. It made him feel low at times to see the fellows at home doing so well and him not so, and hopes she can understand his situation. He says she's probably getting anxious to have the baby and asks what time of the month it's expected. He imagines her husband is also on edge, and wouldn't be normal if not so. He asks if Henry Davis has come into the army, and asks her to keep him posted on what's going on at home.
