Home of Madame Godare on 3rd St., at the corner with Church St. Madame Marie Elisabeth Godare created the flag for the Vincennes Militia who resisted the British control of the Northwest Territories. The flag flew over Ft. Sackville. Godare has acquired the nickname, Betsy Ross of the West, by some historians. The Google maps view (2015) shows this house in very poor condition and clearly not used as a historical attraction.
