Description

U.S. Marine Hospital at 2700 W. Illinois St., built in 1888 to take care of servicemen. The hospital closed in 1947 and it reopened as the U.S. Naval & Marine Corps Reserve Training Center in 1949. The training center moved out in 1975 and the hospital was razed in the middle 1980s. Here is an exterior view of the abandoned facility, showing a covered porch/walkway.
