Description

Dress Plaza, with many cars on it. Behind this, on Riverside Dr., is Keller Crescent Co. at 322-326 Upper Water St., now 24-8 SE Riverside Dr. The building was built around 1885 and Keller Crescent moved in in 1931. It was razed in 1962. Next door is the Hotel McCurdy at 101-111 SE 1st St. Built on the site of the St. George Hotel (1874-1915), the McCurdy opened for business in 1917. In its heyday this was quite a magnificent and popular place, with a ballroom on the top floor. It overlooks the Ohio River. The hotel closed in 1969 and the building fell into some disrepair after being used as a retirement home and a nursing home. It has recently (2017) reopened as luxury apartments. Graham Motor Cars distributorship owned by Robert W. Baskett at 118-20 SE Riverside Dr. on right. The car dealership and building no longer exist.
