Description
Aerial view of the city of Evansville, with the Ohio River in the background. Citizens National Bank at 20 NW 3rd St. is now Fifth Third Bank. The ornate building in the bank's shadow is at 200 NW 2nd St., now called the old post office. It was built 1873-1879. Abandoned by the federal government in 1969, it was acquired by the city in 1977 and currently holds a catering/event venue. The tower in the lower left corner is the former home of Old National Bank at 420 Main St. The bank began in 1835 but did not move to this location until 1970. In recent years the bank's new headquarters relocated to the riverfront in a new and modern building.
