The 1911 city directory has this business at 700 3rd Ave., owned by Edward J. Schlundt and Daniel H. Caldemeyer. Edward J. Schlundt's March 5, 1959 obituary says the partners began this grocery in 1905 and operated it until 1925. They later went into the furniture business together. Schlundt and Caldemeyer were half brothers. The relationship between Edward and the originator of this collection, Robert Schlundt, is that of cousin. This building no longer stands.
