H.A. Woods accepting award, with a plaque in front of him and a ring in a jewelry box in his hand. Henry Alexander Woods was born May 17, 1886 outside of Louisville, KY. He worked his way through pharmacy school at the University of Kentucky, graduating at age 18 in 1904. He became an Evansville businessman in 1916 with the purchase of the first of 13 drug stores. He was one of the founders of the Downtown Kiwanis club and was known in the community for his activities and for always wearing a red tie. He died January 12, 1978.
