Description

Postcard of the second Marine Hospital built in Evansville, this one in 1888 at 2700 W. Illinois St. It was established to take care of service men and as such, was a forerunner of today's VA hospitals. It closed in 1947 and reopened in 1949 as a U.S. Navy & Marine Corps Reserve Training Center until 1975. The buildings were razed around 1984.
