The Germanic principalities from whence they came had a history of cigar making. In the 1840s Fendrich brothers Joseph, Karl (Charles), Franz (Francis) and Herrmann started the tobacco and cigar business. In 1855 the company headquarters moved to 21 Main St. in Evansville. New factory complex opened in 1912, and Fendrich Cigar Company had around 1,500 employees at that time. In 2021, Berry Plastics stands on this location and has subsumed the Fendrich property. 001529578 542__ $$fhttp://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC-NC/1.0/ 001529578 6531_ $$aLocal Businesses 001529578 6531_ $$aLocal History 001529578 6531_ $$aBusiness and Industry 001529578 6531_ $$aPeople and Communities 001529578 6531_ $$aPhotographs 001529578 6531_ $$aRegional History 001529578 6531_ $$aRelated Materials -- 1901-1950 001529578 655__ $$aBlack and White Slide 001529578 691__ $$aIndiana 001529578 7001_ $$aUnknown 001529578 8564_ $$96d9d50dc-903f-472a-9a99-0315222a7c70$$s1320185$$uhttps://library.usi.edu/record/1529578/files/3789.jp2 001529578 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1529578$$pGLOBAL_SET 001529578 914__ $$ap17218coll2 001529578 980__ $$aSpecial & Regional History Collection 001529578 984__ $$aMaxine G.
