Description

There were large amounts of ice, amounting to an ice gorge, on the Ohio River in February of 1936 (and they reoccurred the next winter, too). The newspapers of the time were full of this, even including locations where you could go to view this phenomenon. These pictures were taken from or near the SIGECO (Southern Indiana Gas and Electric Co.) plant on the river.
