A hollowed out ostrich egg that has been painted with an elephant, cheetah, African buffalo and trees. It is a tan egg with brown, black, green, white and blue paint. It is placed on a black stand which hold the egg up in place. 6.5inx4.5in Ostrich eggs have a long history of being used as art in South Africa. The latest show that people were carving symbolic pattern in these eggs as early as 60,000 ago. They also have a religious identity to them. A lot of the time, people put these in with people when they were buried and used in ceremonial purposes.
