Description

Three men sitting outside an establishment at a table drinking. Keebler's and the date of June 2, 1911 is handwritten on the photograph. This is assumed to be a misspelling and to refer to Kuebler's Gardens at 700 Jefferson St. It was begun in 1860 by John M.. Kuebler, first as a business (tannery) and residence, which eventually expanded to a winery, gardens, grandstand, baseball diamond, racetrack, and amphitheater. Many enjoyed the entertainment and good food (the traction line actually had a stop here, Jefferson St. at Water St.) until it ended in 1919 due to Prohibition.
