Jacob Henrici (1804-1892)""He was born in Grosskarlbach, which was the in France but now in Bavaria, Germany. His parents were Ludwig/Louis and Maria Sophia (nee Breitenstein) Henrici. Jacob was the oldest of 3 brothers and a sister. Maria Sophia was the sister of Herman Breitenstein of Wallrose, PA, and of Johann Freidrich Brietenstein, father of Elisabeth Ott and Henry Breitenstein, who both worked for the Harmony Society. (And who therefore were first cousins of Jacob Henrici). In Germany, Jacob heard about Father Rapp and the Harmonists and talked his family int immigrating to America. They arrived in Baltimore on July 1, 1825. Leaving his family in Baltimore Jacob started out for New Harmony, IN, but when he got to Pittsburgh he found out the the Society was moving to Economy, PA and so went there and talked with Father Rapp. He expressed his desire to join the Society but needed to go back to Baltimore for his family. They returnd with Jacob and Louis, his father, talked with Father Rapp, but decided against joining the Society. Jacob joined, but the rest of his family settled in the Pittsburgh area. He first worked as a teacher for which he had trained in Germany. Later, he ran the store. In 1847, he was elected as a trustee. He held this position until his death. As trustee he managed the various financial concerns of the Society, including various railroads, oil and timer concerns in Tidioute, Warren County, and many business in Beaver Falls."
