Aerial view of Lawndale Shopping Center, under construction. The grand opening was October 21, 1957. Lawndale is at the corner of S. Green River Rd. and Washington Ave. Six years later Indiana's first enclosed mall, Washington Square Mall, opened across Washington Ave. from Lawndale.
