Description

Built in 1870-71, Fulton School at 400 N Fulton Ave. was erected to serve an area of the city then called Lamasco. For its first 20 years or so it was called Fulton Avenue School. It overwent changes over the years, but was razed in 1973. Lewis Bakeries now stands in this location. A cropped version of this photograph appeared in the May 17, 1971 Evansville Courier with this caption:""Fulton School on North Fulton Avenue, Evansville, will reach 100 next school year and a full observance is being planned by various groups at the school, led by the Parent-Teachers Association."
