Description

Karl Kae Knecht was a cartoonist, columnist, and photographer for the Evansville Courier 1906-1960. The establishment of Mesker Park Zoo is due in large part to his influence, and Kay, its first elephant, was named for him. Notice the elephant motif in the drapes and the small statue of an elephant. Kay the elephant was nearly always to found somewhere in his cartoons.
