In 1964 then Senator Hubert Humphrey was in Evansville as the vice-presidential nominee on the ticket with Lyndon B. Johnson for president. One of his unscheduled stops was at Evansville College (now University of Evansville) at 1800 Lincoln Ave. In front of him, just by his hand, is Indiana Senator Vance Hartke.
