Gus Grissom's childhood school (unable to identify which school). Virgil Ivan ""Gus"" Grissom was born in 1926 and on July 21, 1961, was the 2nd man in space. He was killed with 2 others on February 23, 1967 on the launch pad in a pre-launch test of Apollo 1. He is buried in Arlington National Cemetery.
