A 3-alarm fire destroyed the Luggage Shop fire at 423 Main St. on a Sunday morning. In all, 140 firefighters, 8 pumper trucks, and 3 snorkel trucks labored for about 3.5 hours to put out the fire that had started on the 3rd floor. The fire was attributed to a malfunctioning gas line that caused the boiler to overheat. No one was injured. This would appear to be the aftermath of the fire. One firefighter's uniform says Lukens, but the city directory lists no one with that name as a firefighter.
