Description

Four Freedoms monument at 267 SE Riverside Dr. Built in 1976, this monument celebrates freedom of speech, freedom from oppression, freedom of religion, and freedom from fear. Thirteen steps represent the original colonies, and there is a pedestal for each state (with its name and state seal) in the union. The limestone columns date back to 1882 and were salvaged when the C&EI depot was razed, and later repurposed here on the riverfront.
