Description
Photographer in the back of a truck, documenting the blizzard of 1978. On 1/17/78 there were 16 inches of snow on the ground, with 7 still left on 1/25. That day 4 more inches fell, and winds of 51 mph caused 8 ft. drifts and whiteout conditions, with a wind chill of 50 degrees below zero. People were trapped in their cars or at work if they weren't home, and businesses closed for 2 days. Some 80 people died in 16 states.
