Rhesus macaques climbing on the ""Monkey Ship"" at Mesker Park Zoo on Bement Ave. In 1933 zoo director Gilmore Haynie, with funding from the Rotary Club and some WPA construction help, had this 1/3 scale model of Columbus' Santa Maria installed. The ship still exists at the zoo, but no longer houses monkeys--it is now a bumper boat ride.
