Description

Schnee House: This photo is of the second Schnee home located at 603 West Street and was constructed in 1876. The first Schnee home was constructed during the Rappite occupation of the town, the Schnee brothers having moved to the town from the Quaker colony in Pennsylvania, and that house was located at 517 Tavern Street. The Gypsy Girl Livery Stable was later constructed behind that home. In this photo the later period hardwood flooring is being taken up. There may be remnants of a linoleum floor under the hardwood which is being removed. This debris can be seen at the bottom of the photo on the left and right sides.
