Transparencies and Negatives Collection: Historic photographs. The Rappite Church/New Harmony School: In 1873 the old brick Rappite Church was mostly demolished, except for the east wing which held the Working Man�s Institute library. The bricks from the old church were used to build a wall around the original Rappite cemetery. The building was then remodeled and rebuilt to house the New Harmony School. This building remained in use until it was demolished in 1913 then rebuilt again in order to modernize the school. This was a published photo of the old New Harmony School building taken before 1913.
